What is dpi?
Dots per inch: how many pixels of the museum’s file go into each inch of paper. Our floor is 240 for sheets up to 20 inches, 180 up to 36 inches and 120 beyond, because a larger print is seen from further away. We never offer a sheet below the floor, and the number on each size is the one you receive.

All editionsAbout this painting
Two arrows have found him, one at the ribs and one at the arm, and he has let his head fall to the side as if to sleep. His hands are tied behind the trunk. Nothing else in the picture is violent: the tree breaks into red blossom against a turquoise sky, the ground at his feet is a bed of flowers, and the whole left side dissolves into a bank of white, like cloud or hawthorn. Odilon Redon painted this Saint Sebastian late, between 1910 and 1912, and signed it at the lower left; the National Gallery of Art records it as oil on canvas, a tall narrow panel of the Chester Dale Collection, given in 1963. The martyr of the Roman guard, shot with arrows and left for dead and nursed back by the widow Irene, is here a young man held upright by a tree in flower. The arrows are thin as grass. The garden has already begun its work.
