What is dpi?
Dots per inch: how many pixels of the museum’s file go into each inch of paper. Our floor is 240 for sheets up to 20 inches, 180 up to 36 inches and 120 beyond, because a larger print is seen from further away. We never offer a sheet below the floor, and the number on each size is the one you receive.

All editionsAbout this painting
A crescent moon at the upper left, lightning breaking at the right, a low band of orange on the horizon: the Royal Collections Gallery reads the sky as twilight and the moment of death. Titian sets Christ alone on the cross, His head bowed, and moves the skull down into the lower right corner so that nothing draws the eye from Him. The canvas is first recorded in 1574, delivered to the Monastery of El Escorial as 'de mano de Tiziano'; from 1656 it hung in the Sacristy in the rearrangement made by Velázquez. Below Him there is room for whoever looks up.
Jesus therefore, when he had taken the vinegar, said: It is consummated. And bowing his head, he gave up the ghost.
