What is dpi?
Dots per inch: how many pixels of the museum’s file go into each inch of paper. Our floor is 240 for sheets up to 20 inches, 180 up to 36 inches and 120 beyond, because a larger print is seen from further away. We never offer a sheet below the floor, and the number on each size is the one you receive.

All editionsAbout this painting
Christ looks straight out, His right hand raised in blessing and His left resting on a globe. The National Galleries of Scotland call it “a crystal-like sphere or globe representing the world,” where “more usually such pictures include a book of scripture,” and they cite the art historian David Davies, who finds the sphere innovative, since in Byzantine paintings Jesus traditionally holds a gospel. The face is long, the hair parted, and around the head the canvas pales into light: El Greco's “fluid brushwork and extensive use of white admirably convey the idea of divine light,” the Galleries write, and “Christ is depicted both as the Saviour of the World and the Light of the World.” Beside His shoulder El Greco signed with the Greek initials delta theta. One hand keeps the world; the other is raised over us.
And they said to the woman: We now believe, not for thy saying: for we ourselves have heard him and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
