Dots per inch: how many pixels of the museum’s file go into each inch of paper. Our floor is 240 for sheets up to 20 inches, 180 up to 36 inches and 120 beyond, because a larger print is seen from further away. We never offer a sheet below the floor, and the number on each size is the one you receive.

All editionsAbout this painting
Everything in the crowd tilts toward one small white figure at the right, the Child in his Mother's arms, and above them the star has become a sky of light. Domingos António de Sequeira painted it in Italy in 1828, in the last years of his life, and the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga in Lisbon records the canvas at a metre by a metre forty. A king in silver brocade kneels with his gift held out; a second lies flat on the ground in cloth of gold; a third, dark-skinned and turbaned, brings a covered vessel, and behind him an elephant with a canopied howdah waits in the mist beside a rider with a parasol. Mothers lift their children to see. Joseph stands in the shadow at Mary's shoulder. The Portuguese bought the picture for the nation by public subscription in 2016. The light is not on the kings. It is on the one they came for.

And entering into the house, they found the child with Mary his mother, and falling down they adored him: and opening their treasures, they offered him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
