In heaven nobody kneels. The blessed embrace angels and one another in a garden woven like tapestry, through fruit trees and giant flowers and animals — the reunion, not the throne, is what Giovanni di Paolo thought worth painting. It was the other half of a predella whose first half is the Fall, and both halves now hang in the same museum. He had seen Fra Angelico in Florence, and chose graceful rhythm over Florentine perspective on purpose, to keep the scene a vision.
